SLO to perform Donizetti work for first time

NON-OPERA lovers might find it easier to segue into the art form with Singapore Lyric Opera's (SLO) staging of the comic operetta L'elisir d'amore (The Elixir of Love), if they deem melodramatic, romantic operas to be too daunting.

This is the first time SLO is performing a Donizetti work here. The 18th century composer Gaetano Donizetti is one of the great masters of Italian "bel canto" opera. Bel canto focuses on the beauty of sound and brilliance of performance.
