Bromance that's stone cold
THE crossover from TV to the big screen hasn't been the smoothest one as various small screen auteurs like The Sopranos' David Chase, ER's John Wells and Boston Legal's David E Kelley have all found out with their cinematic flops Not Fade Away (2012), The Company Men (2010) and To Gillian on Her 37th Birthday (1996) respectively.
The latest to find out the hard way is Mad Men's Matthew Weiner with his poorly received and criminally unfunny stoner dramedy, Are You Here.
The film, which premiered at Toronto Film Festival about a year ago, is your typical festive fare that looks mainstream because of the big names attached to it but yet strives to stay indie at heart with a low-key cinematic release - think Zach Braff's rom-com Garden State (2004), David O'Russell's Three Kings (1999) and everything that Spike Jonze has ever made and you'll get the picture.
