BTS’ Suga’s D-Day arrives in Singapore with much fanfare
The BTS rapper and producer performs a range of songs from his solo albums and the group’s discography, displaying his musicality
AS THE first BTS member to have a solo tour, Suga admitted he felt lonely onstage without his fellow members. However, fans made sure to cheer loudly and sing their hearts out on Saturday (Jun 17) night at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
After counting down more than 120 days, Suga’s solo tour D-Day finally arrived in Singapore for three sold-out shows from Friday to Sunday.
The concert marks Suga’s first performance in Singapore since 2019. Singapore is the last city on the tour – besides the encore shows in Seoul – which had stops in the US, Indonesia, Japan and Thailand.
D-Day tells the story of his journey of discovery as he grapples with his identities – alter ego Agust D, K-pop idol Suga, and his real self Min Yoongi – but later accepts them.
The concert started off with a literal bang as Suga performed the energetic and upbeat Agust D songs Haegeum, Daechwita and Agust D.
The night took a slower turn when he sang a stripped-down version of Trivia: Seesaw, his solo song from BTS’ album Love Yourself: Answer. Suga then performed calmer Agust D songs including People, People pt 2 and Moonlight.

Fans felt nostalgic in the next segment as Suga energetically rapped to a range of BTS songs in his own way, including fan favourites BTS Cypher pt 4, Ugh! and ddaeng.
As the end of the night approached, Suga performed more mellow songs including Snooze, Polar Night and Amygdala, to show that he has come to terms with his three personas. These are songs from D-Day, the final album of Agust D’s album trilogy, thereby concluding his journey.
Besides Suga’s 20-song set list, fans were treated to him playing the guitar and piano. He also came down from the stage to interact with fans and sing a birthday song to a lucky fan.
High energy and anticipation
Even before the concert, the energy was high as fans queued overnight for merchandise – a lot of which sold out by the second day.
Demand for Suga’s tour was so great that a third show was added. Fans from different age groups flew in from Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Australia. Few K-pop artistes have the opportunity to perform to such a large crowd in Singapore, but it is no surprise that Suga was able to do so.
Even those who do not listen to K-pop have heard of BTS, the seven-member boy group that has taken the world by storm. The group is currently on hiatus due to a few members participating in their mandatory military service, but the other members have solo activities.
BTS has promised to come back as seven, and fans are already anticipating Suga’s return to Singapore.
