Affordable Car Acts
All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players in a tragicomedy called COE. Or so Shakespeare may have written if he had tried bidding for a cheap one without success. But fret not, there are some cars that even your ang pow takings may pay for. Samuel Ee picks four of Singapore's cheapest models
Act I
Mitsubishi Attrage
Price: S$79,999
More dubious than the distinction of being Singapore's cheapest car is that this budget mini-sedan is virtually synonymous with a private-hire ride. Yet, while a China car or Malaysian mini may have a lower list price, the small and unassuming Mitsubishi Attrage is the safer bet. For proof, look no further than to the hundreds of units that the private-hire and rental companies bought in 2016.
Launched in early 2015, the Attrage is made in Thailand, created by grafting a boot onto the Mirage eco-car hatchback. And while it looks diminutive, it has a spacious back seat and commodious boot.
Combine that with the attractive price tag…
