PUT The Matrix, Cloud Atlas and a dash of The Crying Game into a blender and you might end up with Predestination, a brainy time-travel thriller that manages to spring a surprise just when you think you've seen it all before.
Not bad for a 13-page short story written in 1958, All You Zombies, by Robert Anson Heinlein, an influential American writer and a giant in the sci-fi fiction genre alongside the likes of Issac Asimov and Arthur C Clarke.
Adapted for the big screen and directed by the Australian Spierig brothers, Predestination's multiple twists and turns about the paradox of time travel can be confusing if you don't pay full attention - especially as every little action leads to another clue in unraveling the plot.
