Fabulous Fringe
M1 Fringe Festival 2015 returns with a new artistic director and more challenging works.

INTO its 11th year, the M1 Fringe Festival continues to showcase some of the most challenging art from around the world. Among the highlights of the festival, which runs from Jan 14 to 25, is a recreation of the 1999 stage monologue by Paddy Chew, Singapore's first public face of the HIV virus, as well as a photo exhibition by local shutterbug Nguan, which captures some of the loneliest images of ordinary Singaporeans.
This year, the festival welcomes its new artistic director Sean Tobin who takes over the reins from long-time helmers Alvin Tan and Haresh Sharma of The Necessary Stage (TNS).
Tobin himself is a veteran theatre practitioner who was formerly an associate artist with TNS. He currently heads the theatre department of School of the Arts and runs the festival with manager Jezamine Tan.
