Ice kachang, muah chee, and "ting ting tang" may not be the usual things one would associate with a gourmet food festival, but at this year's Epicurean Market by Marina Bay Sands, they're getting their share of the limelight.
Along with rendang pipi daging (braised wagyu cheek rendang), Teochew png kueh, and roti prata, they will be part of a new section of the festival called Singapore Street Food, which will be housed in booths done in traditional shophouse style.
Christine Kaelbel-Sheares, vice-president of food & beverage at Marina Bay Sands says: "The Epicurean Market has always been a great representative of international cuisine, but never once showcased local, so we thought why not do it now, when it's right around National Day, too."
