EVEN though he has his hands full running Singapore-based property developer Castlewood Group, the company's chief executive officer Chris Comer tries to make sure he is somewhere near a TV set whenever his favourite football team is in action. Born and bred in Liverpool, he fell in love with the English club when he was a young boy following the likes of Kevin Keegan, John Toshack and Kenny Dalglish as the Reds won one trophy after another in the 1970s and 1980s.
"I don't get much of a chance to watch the team at Anfield (Liverpool's stadium) as I've been in Asia for the past 20-plus years, but that hasn't stopped me from waking up in the middle of the night to see them play," he says.
Come Nov 15, Mr Comer and scores of other Liverpool fans in Singapore will turn up in force at the Jalan Besar Stadium for the Castlewood Group Liverpool Masters. The event will feature former Liverpool stars including Patrik Berger, Robbie Fowler and Jerzy Dudek, who will play an 11-a-side match against a Singapore team boasting the likes of Fandi Ahmad, V Sundramoorthy and Nazri Nasir.
