THE new Lexus RX is already bigger, more stylish and brimming with luxury. Yet some customers want something more - like an extra row of seats. Demand for a seven-seat RX is strong, especially from countries such as the US and China, reveals Lexus chief engineer Takayuki Katsuda.
But he has not decided if that will happen, mainly because it will affect the luxury crossover's styling.
"The RX cannot have the same shape if it is a seven-seater," explains Mr Katsuda, adding that with three rows of seats, the RX will become longer and boxier - something its loyal fans may not accept. And there are many of them.
