Betta Jetta
The Volkswagen Jetta compact sedan gets an extensive makeover.
VOLKSWAGEN'S most popular sedan Jetta is now better, thanks to a slew of aerodynamic and equipment improvements. Nearly four years after this neatly styled four-door car was first introduced here, it has been extensively re-designed and re-engineered.
The Jetta 1.4 TSI retains the 122 hp, 1.4-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine driving the front wheels through a seven-speed dual clutch transmission.
But the car was tweaked to reduce air drag by 10 per cent, with new Pirelli tyres offering lower rolling resistance (the 16-inch Cinturato P7 rubber is also noticeably quieter). To optimise the aerodynamics, the Jetta body was lengthened by 14 mm to 4,659 mm. Also helping to reduce drag are the new front bumper, the tweaked rain gutters on the sides near the A-pillars, underbody panels at the rear axle and sill covers with wheel spoilers.
