Rent a supercar from S$888 a day

TO anyone who has been yearning to drive a supercar but baulked at the cost, yearn no more - Michael Lim can fulfil that dream. At least for 24 hours anyway. The boss of the Motorway Group rents out his fleet of supercars for below S$1,000 a day - S$888 to be exact, arguably the lowest rate on the market.

There are other supercar rentals in Singapore, but they range from S$1,500 for four hours in a Lamborghini Gallardo, to S$2,800 per day for a Ferrari F430 Spider. A couple may offer lower prices but their cars are invariably unavailable.

Apart from daily rentals (the minimum period), Motorway has other short-term (weekly or monthly) and long-term (yearly) options, such as S$8,888 per month on a one-year lease of a Ferrari.

Its current fleet of supercars and ultra-luxury sedans includes an Aston Martin DB9, McLaren MP4-12C, Maserati Quattroporte, Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale, Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG, Porsche 911, Audi R8 Spyder, Bentley Flying Spur and Bentley Mulsanne.

The daily rates are even more attractive when you consider that up to 15 per cent goes to pay for insurance coverage. But Motorway can do it as it is the dominant player in supercar leasing here.

Even then, why would Mr Lim price it thus?

He says simply: "I believe the majority of Singaporeans want to drive a supercar but have not been able to, so I want to fulfil their aspiration by offering an affordable supercar experience."
