More than just a trip down memory lane at Journey's show
COULD Journey be unwittingly writing the soundtrack to its own career all this time? Since forming in 1973, the American rockers have gone through ups and downs, as well as difficult line-up changes.
Starting off as Santana's backing band, it broke out on its own as a jazz fusion act with little commercial appeal. Cue Don't Stop Believin', its 1981 chart-topper which a younger generation of fans discovered after it became the unofficial theme song for TV's Glee.
The anthem, of course, figured its way into the set-list of Journey's show last Friday at The Star Theatre, alongside a string of radio-friendly hits (and the odd deep cuts) the band has chalked up through the last four decades.
