Music Smorgasbord
The annual Vivid Sydney kicks off in about a week and as always, the festival of "lights, music and ideas" has something for everyone. On the concert front, there are over 163 performances and highlights include Australian post-rock trio Dirty Three playing their 1994 self-titled debut in its entirety, as well as shows by Sigur Ros' frontman Jonsi, jazz legend Herbie Hancock, veteran electronic dance music duo Underworld and pop-rock band The Cure performing their seminal 1989 masterpiece Disintegration. Tickets for all five of the Cure's gigs have sold out, but the group will be live-streaming the last night (May 30) on Facebook and YouTube. Tune in to turn back the clock with classics like Pictures of You, Lovesong, Lullaby, Fascination Street and more.
Vivid Sydney runs from May 24 to Jun 15 throughout Sydney. For more information and full line-up, check vividsydney.com.
