Singapore a special place for Satriani
SINGAPORE is special for Joe Satriani for more than one reason. For a start, his wife is Singaporean but the 2014 concert he played here also inspired his latest album Shockwave Supernova (2015).
That was incidentally the last show of his Unstoppable Momentum tour and before walking out on stage, Satriani reminded himself not to be distracted by stage antics like playing the guitar with his teeth while down on his knees. Yet moments later, he was doing it.
That very act inspired the guitar maestro to create his alter ego, Shockwave Supernova, as "a humorous observation" of how things can go over the top when he is performing, as if someone else has taken over his mind and body.
