PRESIDENTIAL hopeful Tan Kin Lian got into hot water recently for comments he made on his Facebook page about “pretty girls”, “pretty slim girls” and “pretty joggers”. While he defended his remarks, the posts drew flak from dozens of online commenters, as well as a statement from the Association of Women For Action and Research, which voiced its concern over Tan’s “history of objectifying women”.
It is doubtful he’s read Say The Right Thing: How to Talk About Identity, Diversity, and Justice, a non-fiction book written by lawyers Kenji Yoshino and David Glasgow.
