Band Boys

British instrumental band The Shadows' 1961 concert in Singapore changed Audie Ng's life. He took up music lessons immediately after watching them and three years later, formed the Silver Strings.
Together with other homegrown bands of the era like The Quests, The The Crescendos, and The Trailers, the quartet ruled the airwaves and had a huge following until they disbanded in 1971.
Signed to the Philips recording label, the Silver Strings packed out venues like Odeon, Capitol, National Theatre and Gay World Stadium. They were even the opening act for The Rolling Stones when the legendary rockers played the Singapore Badminton Hall in 1965.
