Real feel of action

WHEN action-movie fan Jimmy Wong decided to take the plunge into the world of filmmaking, there's no prize for guessing which genre he went straight for. The forex trader has just realised his dream with re:solve, a crime thriller that opened in cinemas yesterday. In it, he not only served as executive producer but also plays the role of a former Special Tactics Unit member.

Wong says his interest in acting came from his time with the SAF Music and Drama Company and the chance to make his own film came about when he met re:solve's director Randy Ang, a fellow action-movie fan, while he was looking for someone to shoot a corporate video for him.

The film cost $1.2 million to make and was shot in 25 days over a period of two months early last year. The plot revolves around a Serious Crime Unit Inspector played by Taiwanese model-actor Chris Lee who is investigating a series of daring armed heists and seemingly unrelated murders. It also stars Taiwanese former beauty-queen-turned-model-actress Mico Chang; as well as local TV veterans Zhu Houren and Zheng Ge Ping.
