A cut above

YOU spend time and money to put your best face forward. So it's only natural that you want hair that looks like a million bucks too.

Enter Rossano Ferretti, the celebrity hairstylist with over 20 international salons from Los Angeles to Dubai, who is now redefining the luxury hair salon experience at The Fullerton Hotel Singapore.

A-listers such as Kate Middleton, Jennifer Lawrence and Angelina Jolie have been spotted emerging from a Rossano Ferretti salon, whose stylists specialise in "The Method", the signature technique which Rossano created with his sister Lorenza back in 1994.

In Singapore, Rossano Ferretti Hairspa is in the capable hands of hair maestros Diego Fiorucci and Christian Serafini, who is also the international Metodo Rossano Ferretti instructor. A hair cut starts from S$375.

Formerly artistic directors at Rossano Ferretti's salons in Rome and Beverly Hills, both of them have 20 years of experience between them in perfecting "The Method", a technique which "is about respecting the natural beauty of hair - how it falls, how it behaves, its quirks," says Christian. "We believe that every woman is unique and every hairstyle is unique, so every experience is customised for the individual."

He adds, "Our bespoke process includes cutting each client's hair using a pair of customised texturising scissors. This enables us to create a special layering technique that creates natural volume or lift. "When we cut this way, it allows us to work on almost every single strand of hair. This helps us to design hair that acquires body internally without chopping."

Says Diego: "Our job is to ensure that we help people understand and appreciate their personal beauty, their natural beauty. Our approach is also about one's well- being, which is the philosophy behind our haircare range."

The salon uses its own Rossano Ferretti Parma products, which are 100 per cent natural and took over seven years to develop. "We tested them in different markets, and did not launch them until 2017 to make sure that it would be effective for all hair types."

Given Singapore's humid weather, people here are more prone to frizzy hair. But Rosanno Ferretti's products are well suited for this problem. For example, its Brilliante Protective and Shining Oil has a UV filter to protect against sun damage while deeply hydrating the hair.

Velluto Smoothing Serum eliminates frizz, while Intenso Softening and Smoothing Hair Mask detangles and conditions.

The two maestros believe that "The Method" will change the hair care scene in Singapore. "This approach to hair design has never been brought to this part of Asia," says Diego. "People in Singapore are well-travelled and discerning so they recognise quality, and are always in search of better ways of living.

"Also, people living in Singapore are interested to know where products come from. They want to know if what they are consuming or using is good for them or at least less harmful. What our customers have experienced worldwide, we want our customers here to do the same. We aim to be a place that is capable of delivering our promise, and a unique experience."
