A New Watch For A Classic Race
Richard Mille sees watches as "objects that elicit emotion", just like vintage cars. It's therefore no surprise that the Frenchman who has a great passion for watchmaking is also nuts about classic cars. "They are genuine works of art in my eyes," he once remarked.
Following tradition, Richard Mille has presented a new watch dedicated to the race. The timepiece is a very sporty RM 11-03 LMC, a numbered limited edition of 150 pieces. It pays homage "to endurance racing, inspired by automotive history and sporting accents of legendary British racing green that are entirely in keeping with the style of Le Mans Classic".
The 24-hour flyback chronograph watch is the first RM 11-03 to feature a case made in white ceramic and Carbon TPT. Ceramic has an unchangeable colour and, after diamonds, is one of the hardest materials in the world. The glossy bevelled rims marked with intermediate times surrounding the coloured counters of the flyback chronograph and seconds window give an impression of depth. This sense of volume is further underscored by an upper bridge in satin-brushed grade 5 titanium that contrasts with the movement, which is also crafted from titanium but coated with PVD.
