Classic Meets Cult
In the bid to stay relevant and cool in the increasingly competitive luxury retail market, storied English label Burberry has teamed up with Gosha Rubchinskiy. Rubchinskiy is arguably one of Moscow's most prolific designer and the zeitgeist of the post-Soviet youth culture. Together with Burberry's chief creative and chief executive officer Christopher Bailey, Rubchinskiy worked on eight pieces for the recent Spring/Summer 2018 show. One of the highlights includes reinterpretions of the brand's signature checkered trench coat in oversized shapes. Bailey praises Rubchinskiy's efforts saying that it's "exciting, new and relevant whilst paying enormous respect to their British cultural heritage."
