Tod's revamps its flagship boutique in Paragon and launches a new capsule collection
Singapore's Tod's flagship boutique has just been transformed into a new store concept with a vision of creating a space that's bright, minimalist and yet luxurious. The 40-year-old brand's classic and colourful pastel selection of men's and women's shoes, bags and accessories stand out against the boutique's clean-lined backdrop creatively accented with mirrored panels. The luxury leather goods and ready-to-wear brand opened its first boutique in Singapore at Paragon in 2003 and later started a pop-up store in Takashimaya and another boutique in The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands.
A large selection of the brand's key pieces from the Spring 2018 show have landed in stores, but to celebrate the opening, Tod's also launched two exclusive designs of embellished Tod's Wave backpacks (only two pieces available in each design) with a special "limited edition" plaque. Another exclusive, the Surf collection, a capsule collection focusing on the brand's iconic Gommino collection (a pebbled loafer which gained international recognition in the 1970s and is made with precisely 133 rubber pebbles) was inspired by the sun, sand and surf culture in California.
Now, you won't exactly think of sporting a pair of leather, suede or denim loafers to the beach, but Tod's has once again utilised its genius marketing ideas to recalibrate what you wear to the beach - whether you're surfing or not. It's not outré to wear pair of loafers to the beach - in fact why not? It's easier to slip on and off compared to the more popular sneaker choice - plus, it's chic enough to take you into a decent restaurant after.
