SYNONYMOUS with high fashion, the 168-year-old French luxury brand Louis Vuitton has led the trends in leather goods, apparel, footwear, jewellery and more. But in the past 20 years, it has also added the label of watchmaker to its accomplishments, with the Tambour now enjoying iconic status among the label’s stable of coveted collectibles.
Unveiled in 2002, Louis Vuitton’s Tambour timepieces are not only on par fashion-wise, they are much sought-after by watch aficionados enamoured of its signature drum-shaped case and applied horns.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Tambour, Louis Vuitton, which is owned by the LVMH conglomerate, has released the Tambour Twenty. This chronograph timepiece — only 200 pieces are available — pays homage to the first Tambour, a GMT.
