The Whites have it
2010 and 2011 are two vintages in white burgundies which are must-buys, says NK YONG
IT was a surfeit of riches that marked the Paulée de Singapour 2014, a convivial gathering of wine-growers and friends - the second such Paulée held in Singapore. Eight famous wine-growers from Burgundy and two from Spain graced the occasion and presented their wines. In addition, one Spanish and five Burgundian growers who were unable to be present were represented by their wines.
Starting on Friday, Jan 24, with a Gala Charity Wine Dinner and Auction and continuing through to Sunday morning, the Paulee was held to highlight and raise funds for three charities which run vocational training courses for Singapore's autistic young adults.
In all, 84 wines (63 burgundies and 21 Spanish) were shown in three half-day sessions chaired by wine authority Serena Sutcliffe M W. Her commentaries and tasting notes alone were worth the price of admission!
