WE ARE ON the Plane to Busan - not to be confused with the 2016 hit Korean zombie flick, Train to Busan - since the only thing we dread is the flight home.
While most people head to Seoul when visiting Korea, the port city of Busan at the south-eastern tip of the Korean Peninsula has a totally different vibe. As the country's second largest city, Busan - formerly known as Pusan - boasts a vibrant local culture, plenty of natural beauty in its mountains, seas and valleys, as well as a bustling metropolitan area.
This gem on the edge of the water has a jagged coastline watched over by about 100 lighthouses in sometimes wacky designs, to alert vessels to the presence of land - and the availability of excellent seafood.
