THE United Kingdom is out of the European Union. But the main issue is not about "Brexit" itself and its aftermath. We have enough of it.
There is no shortage of analysts pointing to the myriad reasons behind Brexit. Some mention globalisation. But that is only half the story. That is an effect in the very same vein that Brexit is an effect.
We have to look at the cause, the fundamental cause. And this has to do with how businesses have been organising their activities. It has to do with the relentless pursuit of economic efficiency and almost nothing else.
