ONE item on the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCCI)'s wish list for Budget 2018, to be unveiled in Parliament on Feb 19, is this: More government money to help carry out the Industry Transformation programme.
But isn't the S$4.5 billion allocated for the government-led makeover scheme, essentially industry-specific roadmaps to help transform and grow industries and reskill workers to be future-ready, enough?
The sum appears big, but so is the task at hand. We're talking about embracing new technology and innovation, boosting workers' competencies as well as moving into new growth areas and markets.
