Hong Kong, despite high rents, stays the top choice of brands looking to expand

SINGAPORE is among the top three cities in the Asia-Pacific that are most popular with international retailers, after Hong Kong and Shanghai, as more mid-tier and luxury brands look to expand their presence in the region, in tandem with growing consumer spending.
For many retailers, Hong Kong is the first port of call for expansion into the Asia-Pacific region even though rentals there are significantly higher than elsewhere in the region, said a JLL report on Wednesday.
