US mortgage applications rise on more refinancing

MORTGAGE applications last week rose for the first time in three weeks as more Americans refinanced their homes.
The Mortgage Bankers Association's index increased 3.8 per cent in the period ended Oct 3 after a 0.2 per cent decline a week before, the Washington-based trade group reported on Wednesday.
