Budget 2023: Tobacco excise duty increased by 15%

THE Singapore government is implementing a 15 per cent increase in tobacco excise duty across all tobacco products.
The change takes effect on Tuesday (Feb 14), said Finance Minister Lawrence Wong during his Budget speech in Parliament the same day.
The increase is expected to generate about S$100 million in additional revenue per year.
Taxes for cigars, cheroots, cigarillos and cigarettes, and other manufactured tobacco will be raised from S$427 per kg or 42.7 Singapore cents per stick of cigarette, to S$491/kg or 49.1 cents per stick.
Taxes for beedies, ang hoon and other smokeless tobacco products will be raised from S$329/kg to S$378/kg.
Taxes for unmanufactured and cut tobacco, and other tobacco refuse, will be raised from S$388/kg to S$446/kg.
