The Fish Farmer looks to reduce food waste, make aquaculture industry more sustainable
It has studied consumer preferences and inked partnerships with companies to utilise offcuts of fish that would otherwise go to waste.
FISH is a popular food option today as people become more affluent and health-conscious, but the industry is grappling with copious amounts of food waste especially since 60 per cent of a fish is typically thrown away.
Aquaculture company The Fish Farmer has been taking steps to reduce food waste and keep global warming at bay, said chief executive Malcolm Ong in an interview with The Business Times.
Ong founded The Fish Farmer in 2007, after he realised that the combination of global warming, overfishing and pollution would inevitably lead to a sharp drop in wild fish in the seas.
