REVISITING your childhood home in an animated video fly-through, archiving your ancestor's grave in a highly accurate digital three-dimensional (3D) form, going on an interactive virtual tour of museums - these will soon be possible for the masses, thanks to enterprising brothers Jason and Vincent Lim.
By offering 3D laser scanning services at their startup Yeng & Leong, the duo is hoping to give heritage sites and artwork in Singapore a digital legacy and make it affordable enough for industries and individuals to build a virtual time capsule of Singapore.
The young company started last June as a medical technology consultancy helmed by older brother Jason, helping local startups and incubators register their products in global markets. Vincent later joined full-time this January and added laser scanning services to its offerings. His earlier experience with laser scanning at an oil and gas corporation in the US had opened his eyes to the technology's potential.
