China, HK: Stocks edge higher in early trade

    [HONG KONG] Chinese stocks edged higher on Tuesday in quiet trade, as investors awaited the release of economic data for May later this week.

    Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index rose 0.15 per cent, or 30.78 points, to 20,660.17 in opening deals.

    The Shanghai Composite Index edged up 0.14 points to 2,822.59, while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, rose 0.13 per cent, or 2.26 points, to 1,801.03.
