China: Shanghai stocks down 0.44% in early trades

[SHANGHAI] Shanghai stocks fell 0.44 per cent on Monday morning despite regulators promising that the state-backed China Securities Finance Corp, tasked with restoring stability, will support the market for years, dealers said.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index lost 17.50 points to 3,947.84.
The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, added 0.20 per cent, or 4.52 points, to 2,314.92.
