Europe: Stock markets slide at open

[LONDON] Europe's main stock markets slid at the start of trading on Thursday following losses on Wall Street.
London's benchmark FTSE 100 index shed 0.9 percent to 6,979.16 points compared with Wednesday's close.
In the eurozone, Frankfurt's DAX 30 index shed 1.0 percent to 12,187.73 points and the Paris CAC 40 lost 0.7 percent to 5,205.17.
