HK, China stocks sink by the close

    [HONG KONG] Hong Kong stocks sank Tuesday, shrugging off a positive lead from Wall Street in post-holiday trade.

    The Hang Seng Index closed down 1.39 per cent, or 337.12 points, to 23,924.54 The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index fell 0.79 per cent, or 25.46 points, to 3,196.71 while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, lost 0.62 per cent, or 12.13 points, to 1,946.42.
