Hong Kong, Shanghai: Hong Kong opens down, extends losses to fifth day
[HONG KONG] Hong Kong stocks fell in the first few minutes of trade Friday, marking a fifth-straight loss, as investors await the release of key US jobs data later in the day.
The Hang Seng Index dipped 0.52 per cent, or 105.34 points, to 20,344.48.
But in Shanghai the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index was marginally higher, edging up 0.56 points to 2,998.40, while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, rose 0.09 per cent, or 1.75 points, to 1,944.29.
