Hong Kong, Shanghai: Stocks close up

    [HONG KONG] Hong Kong and Shanghai stocks rose Monday, boosted by rising commodity prices and fresh optimism over the health of the US economy.

    The Hang Seng Index finished up 0.46 per cent, or 127.68 points, at 27,690.36.

    The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index climbed 0.53 per cent, or 17.38 points, to 3,279.46. The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, jumped 0.74 per cent, or 13.80 points, to 1,872.29.
