Hong Kong, Shanghai: Stocks end higher on Fed rate call
[HONG KONG] Shares in Hong Kong and Shanghai closed higher Thursday after the Federal Reserve cut its forecasts for further US interest rate hikes this year.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng index ended 1.21 per cent, or 246.11 points, higher at 20,503.81.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index jumped 1.20 per cent, or 34.40 points, to 2,904.83 and the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, surged 3.56 per cent, or 60.96 points, to 1,772.43.
