Hong Kong, Shanghai: Stocks open lower

[HONG KONG] Hong Kong and Shanghai stocks fell soon after the opening bell Friday, tracking overnight losses in global markets, amid expectations of a US interest rate hike.

The Hang Seng Index was down 0.11 per cent, or 21.55 points, at 19,672.78.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index fell 0.50 per cent, or 14.02 points, to 2,792.89 while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, lost 0.82 per cent, or 14.54 points, to 1,761.34.
