Hong Kong: Shares end 1.63% higher
[HONG KONG] Hong Kong stocks rallied 1.63 per cent Tuesday after a three-day losing streak as dealers followed a surge in Chinese equities ahead of the corporate earnings season.
The Hang Seng Index rose 377.13 points to 23,520.36 on turnover of HK$67.71 billion (US$8.74 billion).
In mainland China the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index climbed 2.07 per cent, or 47.43 points, to 2,337.87 on turnover of 158.1 billion yuan (US$25.9 billion).
The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, rose 2.39 per cent, or 31.14 points, to 1,333.53 on turnover of 171.3 billion yuan.
