[HONG KONG]Hong Kong stocks closed 0.68 per cent lower Monday after the postponed launch of a stock-trading platform linking the city and Shanghai weighed on the market.

The Hang Seng Index fell 158.97 points to 23,143.23 on turnover of US$7.32 billion.

The delay of the Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect platform also had an impact on the Chinese mainland markets.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index fell to a one-month low. It slipped 0.51 per cent, or 11.84 points, to 2,290.44 on turnover of US$18.5 billion.

The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, rose 0.44 per cent, or 5.75 points, to 1,302.39.
