Hong Kong: Shares start day with gains

    [HONG KONG] Hong Kong stocks resumed their upward trajectory at the open Friday with fears over the Syria crisis easing, while Donald Trump also raised the prospect of rejoining a major Pacific free-trade agreement.

    The Hang Seng Index rose 0.80 per cent, or 245.48 points, to 31,076.76.

    And the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index gained 0.37 per cent, or 11.88 points, to 3,192.04, while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, added 0.45 per cent, or 8.34 points, to 1,848.61.
