Hong Kong: Stocks edge up at open

[HONG KONG] Hong Kong stocks opened higher on Thursday morning, on the last day of a tumultuous year, while Shanghai was marginally lower.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index in Hong Kong edged up 0.22 per cent, or 49.23 points, to 21931.38.

In Shanghai the composite index slipped 0.07 per cent, or 2.41 points, to 3,570.47, while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, edged up 0.05 percent, or 1.08 points, to 2,352.43.
