Hong Kong: Stocks end higher amid Asian rally
[HONG KONG] Hong Kong stocks jumped Wednesday in line with an Asian rally after upbeat remarks on the US economy from Federal Reserve boss Janet Yellen, who suggested interest rates could rise next month.
The Hang Seng Index closed up 1.23 per cent, or 291.86 points, at 23,994.87.
But mainland Chinese stocks closed lower, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index slipping 0.15 per cent, or 4.94 points, to close at 3,212.99.
The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, fell 0.88 per cent, or 17.28 points, to 1,947.04.
