[HONG KONG] Hong Kong stocks built on the previous two days' gains in early trade Tuesday as investors look ahead to the Federal Reserve's policy meeting this week hoping for some guidance on its plans for raising US interest rates.

The Hang Seng Index rose 0.31 per cent, or 73.56 points, to 23,903.23.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index edged down 0.05 per cent, or 1.77 points, to 3,235.25 but the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, barely moved, dipping 0.35 points to 2,030.24.
