Hong Kong: Stocks open up as dealers return from break

[HONG KONG] Hong Kong stocks climbed in the first few minutes of trade on Tuesday as investors returned from a long weekend with their colleagues on Wall Street providing a positive lead.

The Hang Seng Index rose 0.52 per cent, or 127.31 points, to 24,742.44.

But the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index slid 0.24 per cent, or 7.43 points, to 3,147.23 while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, dipped 0.19 per cent, or 3.60 points, to 1,903.32.
