Hong Kong: Stocks rise at open, head for record high
[HONG KONG] Hong Kong stocks jumped almost one per cent at the open of trade on Monday, putting it within striking distance of its all-time high, following fresh records on Wall Street.
The Hang Seng rose 0.92 per cent, or 290.02 points, to 31,702.56 - a little more than 200 points short of its highest peak.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index was flat, inching up 0.01 points to 3,428.95 while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, slipped 0.19 per cent, or 3.65 points, to 1,945.28.
