[HONG KONG] Hong Kong shares extended their gains at the open on Thursday morning as global markets build on a recovery from last week's plunge fuelled by Britain's exit from the European Union.

The Hang Seng Index added 1.47 per cent, or 300.73 points, to 20,736.85.

But the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index edged down 0.11 points to 2,931.48, while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, edged up 0.03 per cent, or 0.60 points, to 1,973.94.
