Hong Kong: Stocks start day with gains

[HONG KONG] Hong Kong stocks edged up after the opening bell on Thursday, in line with a broad advance across Asia as investors brushed off losses on Wall Street.
The Hang Seng added 0.19 per cent, or 48.99 points, to 25,709.64 in the first few minutes.
But the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index slipped 8.65 points, or 0.28 per cent, to 3,108.52 and the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, lost 9.94 points, or 0.55 per cent, to 1,798.37.
