Hong Kong: Stocks up 0.88% at open
[HONG KONG] Hong Kong stocks added 0.88 per cent at the beginning of trade Thursday following a rally on Wall Street, while investors await the release of a closely watched gauge of Chinese manufacturing activity.
Hong Kong's benchmark Hang Seng Index gained 246.18 points to 28,180.03.
In mainland China the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.36 percent, or 15.99 points, to 4,414.48.
The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, rose 0.58 percent, or 12.87 points, to 2,247.33.
